understring fret dressing file, 10 degree angle
Recrown your frets with the strings on! Now you can save time and do more accurate fretwork — all without removing the strings. With our revolutionary Fretbar necks are leveled under exact playing conditions - even tricky necks are easy to get perfect. But we didn't just want to level with the strings on — we wanted to recrown and touch up frets too!

These files are custom designed to work with the strings on, saving you time, and letting you work under playing conditions. They work just like a 3-corner fret dressing file and the diamond coating works fast and clean, with no chattering. These diamond-coated files are also great all around crowning files. Used with the strings on or off, they work quickly and accurately to get frets crowned beautifully.

With three different angles of 300-grit diamond abrasives available you can reach the entire fret from ends to center. The stainless steel construction and knurled handles gives you pinpoint control to dial in the perfect shape and crown for your frets. We like the 30 degree file for working near the edges of the fingerboard, and use the 10 and 20 degree for dialing in the middle and rest of the fret. You can also do a great job with just the 20 degree file too. If you've ever found you missed a spot after a leveling job, these are the perfect files. You can instantly hit just the spot you need and get that fret playing great.

300-grit diamond abrasives
Three different angles available (10, 20, 30 degrees) to reach the entire fret

Each file is 5" in length and 1/4" diameter.

Now you can get a complete Understring Level + Dress Tool Set that includes the Fretbar, 3M Stikit Gold Abrasives, and understring fret dressing Files. You'll do more accurate fret work on every job, and KNOW exactly how the guitar will play when you're done.

All of our tools are suitable for use on stainless-steel fretwire. Modern stainless-steel fretwire is known to be harder than the traditional nickel-silver blends, but our own shop experience indicates the wire does not cause premature wear of files or sandpapers.
